The Moon and the wolf
By Barbara
It’s the middle of the night and the moonlight glistening over the widespread vast ocean wakes me from my sleep. I look out through the window and gaze upon it. The ocean slowly pulls back and forth on the shore line with the waves beating roughly on the rocks. I see cherry blossoms flowing from the breeze and landing gently on top of the water, creating ripples ever so lightly and having them fade away as though no disturbance ever entered. The wind gently moves them in one direction toward the moonlight. The scenery is quite awe inspiring. As I look beyond the ocean I see a white wolf approach a cliff nearby and hear it howl at the moon. I do not know where this wolf came from but I always know that when the full moon arrives, the wolf is always on time to greet it.
This scene is meaningful to me because it represents mystery into life. There are some things that happen in the world that we don’t exactly know why it happens or how but we take it as it is. Why the wolf howls at the moon could be because it’s sad, lonely, or maybe happy. But why at the moon? What will the moon do for it? Maybe because the wolf feels so lonely at night while it’s dark and the moon feels the same way too. Maybe they both comfort each other in a way. We may not understand life but we understand beauty and gentleness in a way. The blossoms flying through the air, the moon, the ocean, and the wolf. In a way we may admire that beauty because just gazing upon it in wonder is worth more than finding the truth.
